Hiking at all levels

The area offers walks at all levels. From the holiday home you can walk on quiet agricultural roads, for example to the Perlenbachtal with its famous wild daffodils. But you can also make a round of one or a few kilometers directly from home.
There are maps in the house, so that you can easily explore the special area on foot. From a small round to walks of 30 or more kilometers; there is a challenge for everyone. Some routes in the High Fens lead you over decking paths, constructed to prevent you from getting wet feet or even sinking on the swampy peat ground.

In the Eifel too you can enjoy excellent walks, in forests, along reservoirs, through villages with the typical high beech hedges of the region and between meadows, often full of wild flowers.

The nature park centers in the area organise guided walks around special themes such as beaver tracks, mushrooms or birds.

Bicycle, e-bike, mountain bike or Railbike?

Cycling enthusiasts can also indulge themselves. The Vennbahn, the long-distance cycle path from Aachen to Trois-Vierges (Luxembourg), passes one kilometer from the house. With a maximum gradient of 3%, it is also doable for less trained cyclists. The route passes through beautiful, very different landscapes.
For those looking for more of a challenge, there are several loops from the Vennbahn. These are tours that partly go over the Vennbahn and partly over traffic-calmed roads. Then you will of course have to climb!
And for those who are looking for even more of a challenge, mountain biking and gravel biking can be enjoyed in the wide area.

Finally, there is the Railbike, also about a kilometer from the holiday home. This runs over the rails of the former Vennbahn. You can go on a draisine with four people, which you first have to pedal up to Sourbrodt, and then very easily return to Kalterherberg..
You can easily reach Monschau via the Vennbahn, where attractive terraces are waiting for you ...
